PART-time aftercare assistants FOR toddler, PRIMARY AND ELEMENTARY

Prime Foundation Montessori School in North Potomac, Maryland, seeks extended-day assistants for our toddler, 3-6-year-old program and its 1st grade through 5th grade program. 

This part-time position would work on a 3:00–6:00 PM regular Monday–Friday schedule with options for additional hours for qualified candidates. Positive interaction with students, parents, faculty, staff, and visitors to the school is expected every day in every situation. This is an entry-level position with excellent opportunities for advancement in all fields of education. In addition, there are general duties that include providing care, transitions, outside play time, snacks, and a variety of other activities.

The pay is $15 - $18 per hour depending on experience, and we would like the person to enroll in 45 or 90 hours of an early childhood or preschool learning class, for which we may pay the fee. If hired and all required documents are in order, the individual may begin immediately.

QUALITIES AND CHARACTERISTICS OF THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

  • Childcare or teaching experience in a professional setting where children come first (school, camp, summer pool, church, etc.)

  • Excellent interpersonal skills: makes positive connections with people easily and naturally

  • Calm and approachable; not easily irritated or frustrated

  • Communicates well orally and in writing, is fluent in English

CLASSROOM ASSISTANT/DAYCARE ASSISTANT/AIDE

We are looking for dynamic, creative, and dedicated classroom assistant/daycare assistant/aide to join our school.

Seeking classroom assistants/daycare assistants/aide for our toddler and primary programs—from 2 years old to 4 years old (pre-school, prekindergarten).

Childcare experience in a professional setting where young children come first is preferred but not required. (school, family childcare, daycare, camp, summer pool, church, etc.)

Different daycare assistant opportunities are available: (8:30 am to 12:30 pm), (8:30 am to 5:00 pm) and aftercare (3:00 pm to 6:00 pm) Monday through Friday, with opportunities for additional hours.

Duties

  • Assist lead teachers in implementing age-appropriate educational activities and programs.

  • Supervise children during playtime, meals, and nap times to ensure their safety and well-being.

  • Effective communication skills – written and verbal.

  • Support the development of children's social, emotional, and cognitive skills through interactive play and learning.

  • Maintain a clean and organized classroom environment, ensuring all materials are ready, safe and accessible.

  • Participate in training sessions related to first aid, special education, and childhood development as needed.

  • Help with basic caregiving tasks such as diaper changes, feeding, and comforting children as necessary.

  • Computer skills preferred.

Qualifications

  • Experience in childcare settings such as preschools or daycare facilities is highly desirable.

  • Familiarity with first aid practices; certification is a plus.

  • Background in special education or experience working with students with diverse needs is beneficial.

  • Skills in toddler care, babysitting, or caregiving are advantageous.

  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with children, parents, and staff members.

  • A patient, nurturing attitude with a genuine love for working with young children.

Prime Foundation Montessori School in North Potomac, Maryland, is looking to hire experienced teachers for our primary and elementary classes.

The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of teaching experience with the age group of interest and/or experience teaching in a Montessori classroom, a contagious love of learning, and leadership qualities that are evident in and out of the classroom.
